Bog Bodies
The "Bog Bodies" of northwest Europe date from the Iron age, some 2000 years ago, and have been reserved throught the centuries by the peculiar conditions of peat bogs: low temperature and oxygen; high levels of tannins. Most died a violent death; strangulation, decapitation, stabbing or ritual sacrifice.
